Traditions

Rooted in Pride. Carried by Us.
From time-honored events to unforgettable moments, our school traditions bring students, staff, and the community together year after year. These shared experiences help define what it means to be a Chipp.

Spirit Points
Show Up. Cheer Loud. Earn Big.
At Chippewa Jr./Sr. HS, school spirit is more than a tradition—it’s a way to build unity, pride, and positive culture. Spirit Points are awarded when students participate in spirit week, attend athletic events, volunteer, or support school activities. The more students get involved, the more points their class earns. Totals are announced throughout the year, and the class with the highest score takes home bragging rights (and maybe a few surprises). It’s friendly competition—with real pride on the line.
The Bonfire Before Rittman
There’s tradition—and then there’s The Bonfire.
Every year before the much-anticipated football game against our biggest rival, Rittman, the entire Chippewa community comes together for a tradition that’s loud, proud, and unmistakably Chipp. Students from every building, families, alumni, staff, and local supporters gather at the school and walk together up Portage Street to the football field, where the bonfire lights up the night.

It’s more than just a fire—it’s a show of unity, tradition, and school pride. The energy is electric, the crowd is massive, and the meaning runs deep. It’s a reminder that no matter your grade or role, when the flames rise, we stand together as one Chippewa.
This is what it means to be Chippewa.
Senior Give Back Day
Leaving a Legacy That Lasts.

Each year during their final days at Chippewa Jr./Sr. High School, seniors unite for Senior Give Back Day—an opportunity to show gratitude and leave a lasting mark on their school. From landscaping entrances to enhancing school grounds, these student-led projects reflect pride, teamwork, and the desire to give back to the place they’ve called home.
